What it is
Leanifi is an AI-powered fitness and nutrition assistant that pulls live food data from the USDA FoodData Central API and exercise data from the Wger fitness database — meaning the nutritional and activity information it draws on is actual, sourced data rather than LLM estimates.
You can describe meals in plain language, photograph what you’re eating, or speak to it. It interprets images to identify foods and estimate portions, responds to voice input, and maintains context across a session. The result is a coach that meets you where you are — no rigid logging, no barcode scanning, no Excel-style macro sheets.
Why I built it
Fitness apps fall into two camps: ones that demand precision (scan every barcode, weigh every gram) and ones that are so vague they’re useless. I wanted something in between — accurate enough to be meaningful, easy enough to stick with. A clinician’s take on nutrition tools: honest about the evidence, low on friction.
